Hi. My name is Suzette, and my blog is an extension of my home, my nest. My husband, who (gratefully!) calls me the “hardcore hausfrau,” says I really should call my blog, “Shit I know how to do.” I’m a fifty-something homemaker in the heart of New York City. I sing, I play guitar (having first picked one up at the age of 45 because it was something I had always wanted to learn to play). I still write poetry, and am learning more about art every time I sketch with my son (he’s the real artist). Oh, yes, and I’m a damn fine cook. I was born and raised in the Flint Hills of Northern Kansas, spent years studying and then teaching writing and literature in Northern California, moved to the Northeast when I married and had my only son. I hope to share some of the many things I learned from a childhood surrounded by formidable women and accomplished homemakers, from my years on a working farm, from hours leading a classroom, from decades spent stitching and crocheting, and beading, from cooking and drawing and writing. I hope you find something in my nest to feather yours.
